Happy Harvest!

We had planned on putting up a huge thank you post at the end of the month to every school for getting involved with harvest donations, however, this.. has been the site of the back of the van pretty much every other day for the past 2 weeks!

We’ve had occasions where the shelves have been completely bare, so seeing so much coming in so regularly is absolutely incredible.

So even though we’ve still got a few schools left to collect from, our team would just like to send our heartfelt thanks to every pupil, teacher, parent and staff for making a contribution to our biggest annual food drive.

As it stands, we’ve collected way in excess of 3000kg of food in just 2 weeks which we still can’t begin to process!

Thank you all so much!
Tesco bags of help scheme
Ever wondered where that 5p or 10p goes when you need an extra bag when you visit the supermarket?

Bags of Help is Tesco’s exciting local community grant scheme where the money raised by the sale of carrier bags is being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK.

Telford Crisis Support (Telford Foodbank) is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

Grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores will be awarded to local community projects.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

The stores that will be taking part are:

Tesco Wrekin retail park
Tesco Madeley
Tesco Express in Hadley
Tesco Express in Wellington (Haygate)
Tesco Express Bridgnorth (High st)
Tesco Express Bridgnorth (Esso petrol)

This will be taking place in November and December so please if you are offered a token at the checkout, consider your local Foodbank!

Well what a week it’s been!

We have so many thank yous to send out we can hardly keep up!

We can’t tell you how amazing it is to walk into the hub everyday to see the shelves overflowing!

We currently have over 3000kg of food in stock, and we have received over 1000kg this week alone!

Whether it’s dropping some items into a donation point box, visiting our hub to make a donation, doing a food drive in your office or your’re a parent, student or teacher that has contributed as part of Harvest festival, we want to thank you so much for your contributions which enables us to support those most in need in Telford & Wrekin

We also want to say a huge thank you to our volunteer team for working so hard week in week out!

Pictured is our last donation of the week from Buildwas Primary school! Made up of just 52 pupils, it’s a little school with a big heart!

Thank you Telford!
