Press Release: National Lottery Community Fund

Press Release

Telford Crisis Support is pleased to announce receiving £180,000 of National Lottery funding.

Telford Crisis Support based in Halesfield, Telford is celebrating this week after being awarded £180,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

Telford Crisis Support will utilize the funding for core costs to help enable it to continue to provide support to those in financial crisis in Telford & Wrekin and its border areas in the face of unprecedented demand for its multi-bank services – food, hygiene, baby/toddler, clothing, and wellbeing.

This new National Lottery funding will help Telford Crisis Support in providing much-needed help to individuals and families who are struggling to cope with the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis and are forced to make difficult decisions that negatively impact their daily lives.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

In response to the award Chris Jones (Chair of Trustees) said “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant towards our core costs means we can continue to support our local community during these challenging times. This will make a real difference to people’s lives.”

Simon Lellow (Operations Manager) added, “This award is a testament to and recognition of the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and staff, who have reacted to the increasing challenges in supporting those in need of a helping hand in our community.”

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organizations across the UK.
